I got a couple of "skins" for it, namely Enigma and Hud Vision. But, they didn't have quite everything that I wanted, so I made my own skin - a little one that displays someone's most recent tweet from Twitter. It's still in progress, and I want to add more stuff to it, but here's what I've got so far as a .txt file.

I still want to make it look better, be able to do more than the most recent tweet, make the date look less weird, and maybe add some other stuff. I'm learning as I'm going though; I never knew anything about parsing webpages before I started. The only problem so far is that Twitter limits the number of page-loads per hour from an IP to 100, so it can't update very often (I currently have it set for every 10 minutes).

AT&T 2wire networks lack of proper security

Lately I have been seeing an increasing number of AT&T 2wire networks appearing all around me and it worries me. Not because of AT&t Deathstar like mass closing in but however the vulnerability of these networks.

Each 2Wire networks default settings as the come setup by AT&T or out of the box is so bad that someone can easily compromise someones entire network in a matter of minutes. Each network has a 2WIRE### SSID and is protected by WEP. In my testing I have found that the average 2wire key could be cracked in 2-10 minutes depending on network traffic. The default key also happens to be the same key to reset the admin console pass. Now that you have full access to their network you can do several things, like turning off Ethernet ports or changing the security. Not only that but you also have their AT&T email account address, now anyone with enough intelligence/desire wouldn't have much trouble devising access to this as well.

Where I live I have roughly 2000 wireless networks in a four mile radius, 1200 of them being 2wire. This is a good example of the extent at witch AT&T is infiltrating people homes but also how little AT&T cares about their customers security. Its like door installation company that serves a majority of peoples home, they give everybody there own key to the door, but hide a spare in the exact same spot for everybody.

My solution to this is A) AT&T can stop being retarded or B) people start determining the exact location of these networks and offer to properly secure these networks for a small fee such as 20$ or so depending on difficulty. I realize this is not the most ideal my solution however it is not a problem that I am so inclined to fix all by myself.

Anyway I am tired and don't remember half of what I just wrote, but enjoy it anyway... Oh and be afraid very afraid.

Gmail ioBridge gadget

In my quest to integrate as many things possible with gmail I have made a very simple sidebar gadget for reading iobridge data and also controlling things. The guide was extremely successful and we are going to make tons more and if anybody has any suggestions..... we need ideas!!!!

So to say few things about the Wind build, its waaaaay faster than the higher end 12 inch iBook G4 running tiger, It can install Photoshop CS3 in about 15 minutes over a 100mbit network (I need a gigabit router!!!! Maybe a wrt160n with DD-WRT :D)and it can run it just fine. I plan to make a video on it but I lack a camera good enough to do that with that won without making the viewer of said video want to gouge their eyes out with a spooooon. Oh and we got nearly 300K views on the guide, Not bad at all IMO.

Also the Msi Wind netbook works just as well including all drivers working spectacularly!

I thinks that's it for now, wait I forgot, any of you doing this with hardware other then the wind desktop should consult insanelymac.com as they have a lot more stuff when it comes to wide varieties of hardware and I can't help everybody with their individual circumstances.

How to roll your own mac for under 240$

I have just made a very detailed guide as to installing OSX on an MSI Wind PC

You can find it here.

OMG, I am bored.

So it has been a long ass time since I last put anything on here, Not like I havent done anything that would be worthy of this blogs incredibly low standards, its just that I am incredibly lazy.

Some things I have done since June......

-Aided in the installation of my school new cisco voip system and new network, which brought a whole bunch more things that I have done.

I have 3 servers now Each of them being an MSI Wind Desktop:

--Useless has 2 gigs of ram 1.6ghz intel atom cpu and two 500g seagates; it is running XP, Theansible.org, uTorrent, File Sharing for my massive 215 gig music library, Folding@Home (speaking of which join our team # 135878, we are in the top 5k), securtiy cam server, That is about it right now, I am working on getting set up for backing all my comps up.

--Lucky the second wind (austin and shelby's) XP, has a 500gb seagate and 512mb ram; It is running Utorrent only for music that is DL'd to Useless, A halo Serv, and folding.

--Scruffy the third wind (Shelby's) has a 100gb laptop drive and 512mb ram, It is Running OSX leopard (another thing I have done, pain in the ass getting that os on there, runs well) It is doing pretty much nothing atm, not sure what OSX servers are really good for, any ideas?

--There is a possibility wynter may be getting a fourth for more stuff.

-I have messed around quite a bit with windows 7 and it is OMFG level of awesome, it runs great on a wind with only 512 ram.
